Newsboys Stanislaus Fair in TurlockExtra! Extra! Read all about it!The newsboys will “Step up to the Microphone” at the 2009 Stanislaus County Fair.

Newsboys, one of the most successful Christian music bands, will perform on Monday, Aug. 3, 2009, at the Stanislaus County Fair. They will appear on the Budweiser Variety Free Stage at 8:30 p.m. This concert is hosted by Celebration Radio 101.5 KAMB and is free with the price of fair admission.

“Newsboys are an impressive addition to this year’s free concert line-up,” said Pennie Rorex, spokesperson for the Stanislaus County Fair. “They will be performing songs from their upcoming CD. Monday night at the fair is going to be an amazing night of Christian music.”

Best known for their awe-inspiring live shows, newsboys have had 18 years of heavy touring which has made their live show an incredible entertainment experience that changes lives. The newsboys have garnered four Dove awards and a Billboard Music Video Award, along with numerous Dove Award Nominations and four Grammy nominations. The group has had a string of number one hits including “Step Up to the Microphone,” “Good Stuff” and “He Reigns” and now the native Australians will be releasing their newest album In the Hands of God on May 5, 2009.

In March, newsboys featured its new front man, Michael Tait. “When I received the initial call from newsboys, to consider joining the band as lead singer, I was speechless,” said Tait. Before joining newsboys Tait was a member of dc Talk, the two bands have toured together for years and now cross paths again in 2009.

The Stanislaus County Fair’s 2009 lineup on the Budweiser Variety Free Stage includes:

  • Grand Funk Railroad – Friday, July 31, 2009

  • newsboys – Monday, Aug. 3, 2009

  • Rick Springfield – Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2009

  • Gretchen Wilson – Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2009

  • Josh Turner – Friday, Aug. 7, 2009

The 2009 Stanislaus County Fair opens Friday, July 31 for a 10-day run. Discounted fair admission and unlimited ride wristband eTickets are now on sale at www.stancofair.com. Food Maxx Arena event tickets go on sale Saturday, May 2, 2009, at 10 a.m. Visit the fair’s website for detailed ticket sale information.
