Motorists around Turlock are beginning to experience some extra traffic along busy corridors that are in the process of receiving a facelift. For the past couple of weeks, construction crews have been updating curbs and gutters along Geer Road and Hawkeye Avenue in preparation for road repaving, which will begin in coming weeks.
Each year, the Turlock Rotary Club recognizes quality teachers from area schools for excellence in teaching and instruction. This year, 28 teachers from Turlock, Hilmar, Denair, and Keyes received honors from the Turlock Rotary Club.
The East Side Mosquito Abatement District has announced that a dead bird found in Stanislaus County has tested positive for West Nile Virus (WNV), the first detection of the virus in the county this year. Throughout the state, WNV has been detected in 10 counties with activity confirmed in 18 dead birds, 17 mosquito samples, no horses, and no human cases, as of May 15.
