Denair Park - Harvy Holland, 37 years old, was contacted for drinking in the park. He was found to have two active misdemeanor warrants for drinking in public out of Modesto. He was arrested and cited.
1700 Blk of N Olive - Gary BENDS, 35 years old, and Rosalva MORFIN, 44 years old, were contacted inside the residence. BENDS had active warrants for grand and petty theft and MORFIN had a warrant for felony battery.
3300 Blk of Vanderbuilt - Marquise CLARK, 19 years old, was arrested and booked for being under the influence of narcotics and possession of methamphetamine. Police contacted CLARK after receiving a call that he was acting strange.
1300 Block of Cahill - Edward BLEDSO, 29 years old, as arrested and cited after he stole a UPS package from the front porch of a residence. He was found in the area and in possession of the items that were in the package.
The Turlock Unified School District is reporting that lockdowns at both Crowell Elementary and Dutcher Middle School have been lifted. The schools were placed on lockdown due to a gas leak in the residential area of Hawkeye Avenue, according to TUSD.
The East Side Mosquito Abatement District has announced that a dead bird found in Stanislaus County has tested positive for West Nile Virus (WNV), the first detection of the virus in the county this year. Throughout the state, WNV has been detected in 10 counties with activity confirmed in 18 dead birds, 17 mosquito samples, no horses, and no human cases, as of May 15.
Motorists around Turlock are beginning to experience some extra traffic along busy corridors that are in the process of receiving a facelift. For the past couple of weeks, construction crews have been updating curbs and gutters along Geer Road and Hawkeye Avenue in preparation for road repaving, which will begin in coming weeks.
