When criminals are running from Stanislaus County Sheriff’s deputies, they better hope that Deputy Terry Johnson isn’t the one on their tails.

Johnson competed in the annual United States Police and Fire Championship Games in San Diego earlier this year, and took home seven medals, including five gold medals.

He competed in several Track and Field events, including the 200, 400, and 800 meter events, as well as the 4x100 relay.

“I’m very proud of Deputy Johnson”, said Sheriff Adam Christianson. “Terry represents law enforcement in a manner that reflects very highly upon the men and women of the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office.”

Since 2004, Johnson has won 37 gold medals, 14 silver medals, and 9 bronze medals in Track and Field events.

The Western States Police and Fire Games have evolved into the United State Police and Fire Championships and exist to promote sports and physical fitness among the law enforcement and firefighting community throughout the United States.

The event began in 1967 as the California Police Olympics and is continuing to spread its influence across the country. The entry requirements remain the same with participation limited to the full time and retired law enforcement and firefighting personnel, but the United States Police Fire Championships will be open to all 50 states and United States territories.
