This year residents hosted 35 block parties throughout Turlock, up from 32 in 2014, and received visits from Turlock police officers, Turlock fire staff, City Officials, MgGruff the Crime Dog, Sparky, SWAT, and City officials.

The Turlock Recreation Department also hosted a block party at Columbia Park and provided BBQ, music, and activities for kids.

Approximately 2,100 community members participated in this year’s event, according to the Turlock Police Department.

"It was great to see so many of our community members come out to meet with police, fire, city staff, elected officials and, most importantly, with each other,” said Turlock Mayor Gary Soiseth. “The strong showing of over 35 neighborhood sites demonstrates the value Turlock residents place in the National Night Out campaign."

This year’s citywide National Night Out had more block parties and celebrations than last year’s, which was ranked second in California and No. 20 in the nation for communities with populations between 50,000 and 99,000.
