The first numbers released were the counts on the absentee ballots. Amy Bublak, Mary Jackson, and Kurt Vander Weide were all within a few percentages from the lead.
The next update at 9:57pm did not show much of a difference but Jackson was in second place, leading over Council incumbent Vander Weide by 6 points. Bublak continued to hold the lead by about two percents.
There was a long wait for the next update and what would end up being the final one.
The last update at 11:13pm reported that Amy Bublak is the top vote getter with 7,305 votes or 25.85%. Mary Jackson
is working to close the deal on the second open spot on the Turlock City Council with 7,216 votes or 25.54%. Bublak and Jackson are only 89 votes apart as they lead to oust incumbent Kurt Vander Weide as he is falling short of re-election with his 6,732 votes or 23.83%. David Fransen received 4,215 votes or 14.92%. Jim Sarnowsky received 1,601 votes or 5.67%. Jeff Anderson who dropped out but too late to be removed from the ballot managed to swipe 1,114 votes or 3.94%.

The thousands of ballots still being counted by Stanislaus County may take a while to officially finalize these newly elected officials. They must have all ballots counted within 28 days after the election.
It was said unofficially that if Bublak, Jackson, and Fransen did not win that they would not run again. This was Bublak’s third time running for Council and Jackson’s second time. Fransen and Vander Weide both ran for Mayor in 2006 and both lost as they are again for Council this time.
Congratulations so far to our leading Turlock City Council candidates Amy Bublak and Mary Jackson (Pending Official Final Count)!
