TURLOCK, CA – On Tuesday, November 18, 2008, at approximately 8:36pm, Turlock Police responded to a report of a drive-by shooting that occurred in front of 20 Oleander Lane. Officers arrived to find the victim, 24-year-old Luis Antonio Contreras out of Turlock, seated in his silver 2000 Dodge Stratus which was parked alongside the road. Contreras had been shot several times in the chest and abdomen area.
Emergency responders provide emergency medical attention on scene until Contreras was transported by helicopter to an area hospital. Contreras underwent surgery and his condition is still being supervised by medical staff.
There is limited suspect information. Investigators have reason to believe that a dark color foreign economy vehicle may have been involved. No motive has been determined. Investigators executed a search warrant and recovered evidence which is being processed by the Department of Justice.
