Turlock Police have made an arrest regarding the abandoned infant found in a dumpster on November 8, 2008. Jessica Mae Betts (19 years, Turlock) has been identified as the mother of the newborn child found in a shopping center dumpster in the 1600 block on Lander Avenue in Turlock.
Turlock Police received a tip from a source that will remain anonymous which contributed to the investigation. The investigation revealed that Jessica Betts is the mother of the infant who was abandoned on November 8, 2008. Betts is a nineteen-year-old female who lives in Turlock.
Investigators interviewed Jessica Betts this afternoon at the Turlock Police Department. The investigation has revealed that the infant was not still-born. The Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office has preliminarily reviewed the evidence. Betts has been charged with first degree murder. She was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center in Modesto.
