Several officers respond to a report of a stabbing on February 16th at 3:16am. Upon arrival of the Starr Avenue scene, the door was ajar and the Turlock Police Officers see a man down on the floor, with blood everywhere.
The female, Selina P. Vargas, 30, admits to stabbing the victim, Anthony Simmons, 32.
Simmons was stabbed twice, once in the chest and once in the abdomen.
CPR was performed until the Simmons was transported by AMR. Anthony Simmons was pronounced dead at Emanuel Hospital.
Detectives were called out and took over.
Simmons had a restraining order to stay away from Vargas. The on and off couple, and parents of two children, have a history of domestic violence while involving the police. Despite their violent history and the restraining order, evidence has ruled out self defense.
Selina Vargas appeared in Stanislaus County Superior Court on February 18th and entered a plea of not guilty to the charges alleging murder. Vargas is also being charged with premeditation to murder.
Vargas will appear in court on March 9, 2009 and is being held without bail.
