The first General Plan Update community workshop will be hosted by the City of Turlock at the Turlock Senior Center (1191 Cahill Ave.) on March 26, 2009 at 6:00pm.
The General Plan Update will guide the city on how it grows over the next 20 years. Though the Turlock City Council ultimately approves the document, the plan is supposed to be the result of public input towards the community’s goals and vision.
“A General Plan is only successful when it reflects the goals and values of the community. While elected officials will adopt the final General Plan, Council members and City staff are committed to soliciting the input of residents throughout the development of the document. So, we need to hear your voice. What do you like about Turlock? What needs improvement? How can the City meet the needs of you and your family better?” – www.gpupdate.turlock.ca.us
Concerns from the first Council/Planning Commission Joint Meeting that officially began the input process included public comments stating we don’t have to grow, work on bike paths, housing needs, fixing certain intersections, no growth, agricultural land issues, and more.
The public is invited to participate in this General Plan Update Workshop. This workshop will not include the official presence of the Turlock City Council and may present a little more comfortable atmosphere for some to express their thoughts. The Turlock Planning Commission will participate but will not take any action at this upcoming workshop.
No matter how much time you have, there are ways to contribute and make your voice heard. Community workshops and public meetings will be held throughout the process, and you can also fill out a comment form to let the City of Turlock know what you think at any time.
The City of Turlock has a website (www.gpupdate.turlock.ca.us) where documents, forms, contact information, and notices such as this are available.
