Leroy Walker of Bistro 234Turlock’s own Leroy Walker of Bistro 234 won the 2nd Annual Culinary Clash “Iron Chef” type competition sponsored by the DMC Foundation.

Chef Leroy Walker has been with Bistro 234 for 8 years. His culinary education comes from cooking in different kitchens throughout his 25 years in the restaurant business. In the past, he worked at Angelini’s, The Stagecoach and several different catering businesses. As chef, Leroy has helped Bistro 234 win the Best Restaurant Award from the Turlock Journal for the past five years.

The cooking competition was held at Modesto Centre Plaza and had around 700 people in attendance.

The two other chefs voted into the competition were Sarah Mara of Appetez Café in Modesto and John Surla of Galletto’s Ristorante, also in Modesto.

Mushrooms were the required “secret ingredient” the chefs had to use in their recipes.

Proceeds from the competition will benefit the DMC Foundation. The DMC Foundation’s Mission is to provide “Health Through Education” according to their website www.dmcfoundation.org.
