The Turlock City Arts Commission is inviting everyone to bring the whole family for a morning of Art & Adventures on May 16th.
Beginning at 9:00am the Turlock City Arts Commission (and sponsors including TurlockCityNews.com advertising partner Monte Vista Small Animal Hospital) will be holding a Sidewalk Chalk Art Contest followed by the annual Concert in the Park performed by the Hilmar Community Band. There will be prizes for kids, teens, and adult artists participating in the chalking – sign up for your square starting at 9:00am.
A donation of $2 will register participants for one square and a basic bucket of chalk to draw with. For a $5 donation, artists will receive a premium package of chalk to use in their square. Families with children under 13 can register in the “kids” category. There will be a special category for high school and college students, plus a category for adult artists. Participants may work in teams or as individuals. Artists can register and receive a square until noon, and every one will have until 1:00pm to work on their drawings.
While artists are creating sidewalk masterpieces, there will be picnicking opportunities, fun & games, and the traditional, patriotic band concert at noon. Prizes will be awarded after judging at 1:00pm.
That morning families can also participate in the Recreation Division’s 1 or 2 mile Family Adventure Walk. Receive an Adventure Packet and look for clues along with your walking trail. Pre-register with City of Turlock Recreation to be guaranteed a T-shirt. Check-in for the Family Adventure Walk starts at 7:45am.
