If you like to slow it down with a sloth, carouse with the kinkajous or congregate with the chameleons then you will be in love with the volunteer opportunities at this year’s Stanislaus County Fair.
The Stanislaus County Fair is seeking venturesome volunteers to assist at the new Rainforest Adventure interactive educational exhibit during this year’s Fair, July 31 – August 9, 2009.
New to this year’s Stanislaus County Fair is the Rainforest Adventure, an 8,000 square foot patch of rainforest. The new exhibit features critters that inhabit this rainforest, like toucans, anacondas, snapping turtles, and geckos. This exciting and educational adventure is sponsored by Sky Trek Aviation.
The exhibit will also feature 20 minute Rainforest Animal Shows, featuring a Capuchin monkey, and all of his rainforest bird and reptile friends. The Rainforest Animal Shows are sponsored by Monte Vista Small Animal Hospital.
Volunteers for the Rainforest Adventure will be trained to share knowledge of the rainforest and its inhabitants and will act as attendants stationed throughout the exhibit. Volunteers must be age 16 or over, must have their own transportation and must be able to stand for several hours at a time. In addition, volunteers must be available for pre-fair mandatory volunteer training.
Rainforest Adventure volunteer training is slated for Wednesday, July 29, at 7 p.m.
To sign-up as a volunteer, email firstname.lastname@example.org or contact Diane Coryell at 668-1333 ext. 336 by no later than Friday, July 17 at 5 p.m.
