Turlock – The Turlock City Arts Commission announces a new exhibition, Focus on the Merced Camera Club, which will be on view from July 1 – August 26, 2009, at the City Gallery inside Turlock City Hall.

The exhibition features works by members of the Merced Camera Club. The club was founded in 1958 for artists living throughout the Central Valley region – from Turlock to Chowchilla. Club members are amateur photographers at all skill levels who gather on a monthly basis to talk, share and critique their work. Some of them have had works selected for Turlock’s highly competitive Spring Juried Art Show over the past few years, and many have participated individually in exhibitions in this region. The club holds annual shows at the Merced Multicultural Arts Center and has exhibited as a group at the University of California, Merced.

The City Gallery exhibition will feature more than 40 digital images created by 11of the artists active in the Merced Camera Club. Lisa McDermott, Arts Facilitator for the City of Turlock, says of the group, ”As a curator, I have been impressed with the overall quality of work their members create. The Arts Commission is very excited about giving them this showcase opportunity and continuing to expand our audience well beyond Turlock’s borders.”
