The Stanislaus County Coroner’s office released the identity of the man that was shot to death at the Brentwood apartment complex.
The victim was 29 year old Rafael Ruiz who was from Huntington Park in Los Angeles County. According to Turlock police, Ruiz was a visitor at the Brentwood apartment complex.
Police have not reported a motive yet. While it does not appear to be gang related, it has not been ruled out that it was drug related.
The murder weapon has not yet been recovered.
The victim of a fatal shooting at the Brentwood apartment complex has only been identified as a 28 year old male. Police are waiting to release the victim’s identity until they can notify family members who do not live in the area. Police have reported that the victim’s driver’s license had an out-of-town address.
Police have not reported a motive or suspects yet. Police have canvassed the area and have general, basic information about the suspects.
On Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at approximately 6:51 p.m., Turlock Police received a report of a suspicious incident at 1301 N. Denair (Brentwood Apartments). The called advised that several subjects were seen running from a specific apartment. The caller further advised that at least one gun shot may have been heard.
Turlock Police Officers arrived and located the apartment. Officers found a Hispanic male adult on the floor inside the apartment. He was the victim of at least one fatal gun shot wound. The victim’s identity is not being released; however, he appears to be a Hispanic male in his 20’s or 30’s. Emergency medical personnel arrived but were unable to revive the victim. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Turlock Police Detectives responded and assumed the investigation of the incident. No suspect information is being released at this time. Police are actively following up on all leads and are interviewing potential witnesses.
