Mike Berryhill for Congress press release:
Mike Berryhill, an elected board member for the Turlock Irrigation District and former Ceres School Board member today announced his campaign for California’s 18th district against 4 term incumbent Congressman Dennis Cardoza. Berryhill, a strong conservative and local leader in passing Proposition 8, has a keen understanding of water issues facing the Central Valley and is well positioned to defeat Cardoza next year.
“I felt it was critical that someone who has strong name recognition and a deep understanding of the issues challenged our incumbent Congressman, who has decided that he doesn’t want to hear from his constituents anymore,” said Berryhill. “We cannot have a member of Congress representing the Central Valley who is more concerned with protecting 3 inch fish and Nancy Pelosi than in protecting the jobs and future of our families and farms,” Berryhill continued.
“This district deserves a Representative who knows that Washington usually isn’t the solution to our problems, it usually is the problem. My philosophy is simple. I will focus on downsizing government and growing jobs while standing up for Central Valley values. Cardoza has voted for massive bailouts and tax hikes and refuses to even meet with his constituents to discuss his position on government run healthcare,” stated Berryhill. “That’s not the sign of a Representative of the people, that’s the sign of an arrogant career politician who wants to vote for a government takeover of healthcare.”
Berryhill announced his campaign this morning in front of Berryhill School in Ceres, named after three generations of the Berryhill family who have served on the Ceres School Board. With his long record of public service in local government and as the cousin of current Assemblymembers Bill and Tom Berryhill and the nephew of former State Senator and California Agriculture Secretary Clare Berryhill, Mike Berryhill is a top tier challenger that brings extremely high and positive name recognition to this race.
Mike Berryhill is married to Francesca (Fran) and together they have raised nine children, 7 boys and two girls on their family ranch in Stanislaus County. For more information on Mike Berryhill’s campaign for Congress, go to his website at www.berryhillforcongress.com.
