She lived in Venice, CA after marrying James Aulds, and taught school in the Watts District of LA. During this time her son James was born.
After moving back to Turlock, Evelyn taught at Modesto Christian and Chatom Elementary School, subsequently retiring. Even in retirement Evelyn stayed active as she volunteered her time as a part time worker for Teen Challenge in Turlock.
Evelyn married Joe Elston in 1992. She passed away at The Alexander Cohen Hospice House. Among her other wonderful qualities, Evelyn was an inspiration to many people during her life for her goodness, sweetness, and the daily testimony of her Christian faith.
