“JW” as he was known to his friends, loved to share his music. For 16 years he was a disc jockey. He was well-known in the Mother Lode for his early morning show “Scrabbled Egg and Ham” on station KVML, the voice of the Mother Lode. In 2004, he was the honorary Grand Marshall of the Mother Lode Round Up Parade in Sonora.
He was employed for 21 years as a grounds keeper by the County of Toulumne. He retired in 2007. He was raised in Don Pedro, CA, by Sydney and Virginia Moran. His first job was a power operator at Don Pedro Dam. His other employment included: Ditch-tender for Turlock Irrigation District, Turlock; caretaker at Calvary Temple Pentecostal Church, Modesto; Modesto Parkwood Seventh Day Adventist Church, Modesto and Lake Don Pedro Hacienda, Don Pedro. He resided the majority of his life in Don Pedro and Sonora, CA. He relocated to the Amber Lights Apartments in Modesto, CA in 2008, where he had several close friendships.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, his brother Larry Moran, his wife of 40 years Jo Moran and his step son Sonny Machado.
He is survived by his step children, Maria Henry (Mark) of Hughson, Julie Machado, Penny Randall of Modesto, Bill Machado (Sally) of Garnerville, NV and daughter-in-law Cheryl Machado of Alaska. He had nine grand children and nine great-grand children.
