The Turlock Friends of the Library (FOL) is holding their annual book sale at the end of January.
The public offering of books for sale will take place on January 29th (9am – 7pm) and 30th (9am – 5pm). There is no cost to enter the indoor book sale held at the First United Methodist Church located at 1660 Arbor Way (corner of Berkeley Avenue + Main Street).
The large selection of used books for sale will be offered to Turlock FOL members first on January 28, 2010 from 4pm – 8pm (annual memberships will be sold at the door for as little as $10).
For more information, contact the Stanislaus County Library of Turlock at 209-664-8100 or visit the location at 550 Minaret Avenue.
The Turlock FOL assists the local library with funding for children’s programs in addition to providing funding for books and DVDs. They are dedicated to assisting the library and their annual funding comes from these sales.
In this time of economic downturn, their funding is an essential need for the Stanislaus County (Turlock Free) library.
“You would be amazed to see how much of our community uses our local library, from checking out books & DVDs to using the computers all for free,” said TFL Board Member Jeanne Endsley. “I cannot emphasize enough what an asset the library is to our community.”
November 2009 circulation statistics were up 20.5% from October 2008 – 4,620 more items than last year (2008 circulation statistics = 22,591 & 2009 statistics = 27,211). The November circulation exceeded the November 2007 circulation when the Turlock Library was open on Tuesdays (Nov. 2007 circulation = 24,697).
The Turlock FOL membership includes 225 people.
