The petitioners’ lawsuit claims that the Respondents had a duty follow the law in regards to the Community Redevelopment Law and that they abused their discretion while taking actions which were not supported by substantial credible evidence in the record, so that their findings were arbitrary, capricious, and unreasonable, in violation of law.
Former Turlock City Councilman Larry Rumbeck was circulating an email asking for community help in funding the lawsuit’s progress on Monday.
After a community meeting Rumbeck heard it was going to take around $2,500 to continue the lawsuit and states in the email “I have taken it upon myself to try and raise this money this week to get the ball rolling.”
“Some may not agree with this letter and that’s fine,” said Rumbeck. “I feel strongly that the money the Turlock City Council better known as the Turlock Redevelopment Agency recently awarded the Turlock Unified School District to construct a new football field is an improper use of RDA funds.”
After only a few hours, Larry Rumbeck reported raising $900.
Update: $2,000 raised in 2 days (as of 02-09-10)!
