Claire Dean Black
November 1933 – April 2010

Claire “Whittie” Black, 76, of Turlock passed away at Alexander Cohen Hospice House on Wednesday, April 14. He was born in Rock Island, IL to Glenn and Lucille Black in 1933. Whittie joined the U.S. Air Force in 1952 and retired in 1972 and settled in Turlock. Whittie received an A.S. degree from Modesto Junior College and worked as a technician for Foster Farms in Livingston for 25 years. He was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church in Turlock and the Turlock Motorcycle Club. Besides being an avid motorcycle rider, he liked working and rebuilding computers and giving them to family and friends that needed a computer. God and family were his life.


Whittie is survived by his wife Verna Black; children Jimmy Black of South San Francisco and Liz Sederquist of Sonora; brothers Darrell Black and Glenn Black, Jr.; and six grandchildren. Whittie is preceded in death by his son David Black.

Arrangements are entrusted to Allen Mortuary. A visitation will be at Allen Mortuary on Tuesday, April 20 from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery on Wednesday, April 21 at 1:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Free Will Baptist, 2217 Geer Rd. Turlock, CA 95382.
