Councilman Ted Howze appears to not be running for Turlock City Council re-election in November 2010. However, Ted Howze now has an election committee for Turlock Mayor.
Councilman Howze has closed his Turlock City Council committee
and turned in papers to Turlock City Hall late Friday to open a Turlock Mayor committee, “Friends of Ted Howze for Mayor 2010.”
In the same Modesto Bee article, both Councilman Ted Howze and Mayor John Lazar reference the upcoming November election as a way to settle their differences:
“Ultimately, I believe it’s going to have to be decided at the ballot box,” Lazar said.
“I don’t think it’s ever going to be behind us until a set of elections determines the outcome,” Howze said. “I think it’s going to take a complete turnover in political structure to right the ship.”
Councilman Howze told TurlockCityNews.com that he didn’t plan on running for Turlock Mayor and said that the committee is “exploratory and at supporters’ request.”
The main reason for opening the Turlock Mayor campaign committee even though it is “exploratory” is so that supporters may make donations to “Friends of Ted Howze for Mayor 2010.”
A candidate may close and/or open committees although monies may not be transferred over from one committee to another.
The regular candidate nomination period for the November 2010 election is July 12 to August 6, 2010.
