July 1915 – April 2010
Leone Heans, 94, of Denair, has returned home to the arms of her loving husband, Bob, and her elder brother, Jesus Christ, and her loving Heavenly Father. There is no doubt about the joyous reunion with her parents and all the rest of her family who have gone on before her. Leone was born to Emory Lester Orr and Ellen Sadie Scott Orr in Cloverdale, California. She was proud to be a third generation Californian. When Leone was very young she moved to San Pablo with her family. She graduated from Richmond High in 1933. She attended Mills College on a music scholarship while also attending beauty school. She received her cosmetology license which she kept for 60 years. In 1945 they bought a restaurant in Denair where they lived along with their two daughters.
Their son Bob E. was born a few months later. After 18 months in the restaurant business they built Denair Hardware because the farmers who ate at their restaurant told them that Denair really needed a hardware store. They loved living and working in Denair. When they found it necessary to leave Denair and move to Turlock, they left their hearts in Denair.
Leone’s love for her family was first in her life. Second was her love for music. Playing the piano was second nature to her. She could carry on a conversation and play the piano at the same time. At last count she could play at least 426 songs by memory.
She was such an amazing woman. Up until shortly before her death she was still playing the piano, using her computer, and paying her bills online.
Leone temporarily leaves behind her three children: Carole (Bob) Royster of Turlock, Beverly (Frank) Palmer of Denair, and Robert (Janice) Heans of Denair. She also leaves behind her grandchildren: David (Patti) Royster, Janet (Tracey) Lott, Ramona McGuire, Linda Debose, Ken (Belinda) Palmer, John (Cheryl) Palmer, Jim (Paulina) Palmer, Crystal (Bill) Quillen, and Kim Heans. She also leaves 29 great-grandchildren and 18 great, great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Margie Cornell, many nieces and nephews, and her dear friend and care-giver, Beverly Mitchell.
Visitation will be at Allen Mortuary on Friday, April 23rd from 4-6:00 pm. Her Funeral Service will be at the LDS Church 4300 Geer Road on Saturday, April 24th at 10:00am. Memorial contributions may be considered for Hospice of Emanuel, The LDS Missionary Fund, or the organization of your choice.
