A much anticipated return of the Turlock Farmers Market in Downtown took place on Friday from 8am – 1pm.
A group of citizens began meeting in August of 2009 to work on bringing back the Turlock Farmers Market, a once hugely successful event that used to draw thousands downtown every Thursday night.
Through many meetings and community feedback, Turlock Downtown was chosen as the venue to host a farmers market every Friday from 8am – 1pm until the end of November.
An estimated 500 people came downtown to shop the Turlock Farmers Market, located on both sides of Broadway Avenue off Main Street.
Eight certified farm vendors, four food vendors, and four non-certified vendors offered their products.
Turlock Downtown Executive Director Trina Walley reported that two of the food vendors sold out by 12:30pm.
More vendors are expected to join the Turlock Farmers Market as the season progresses.
