In closed session at Tuesday’s Turlock Irrigation District (TID) Board Meeting, the TID Board of Directors unanimously selected Casey Hashimoto, Assistant General Manager of Electrical Engineering and Operations, as interim general manager effective August 1st.
“Working as the General Manager of TID, in this interim capacity, is a great responsibility to the TID employees, board members and communities we serve, and it is one I do not take lightly,” Hashimoto said.
Mr. Hashimoto, a 25-year veteran of the District, became the Assistant General Manager of Electrical Engineering and Operations in early 2001.
Hashimoto will receive a ten percent salary increase from $14,808 a month to $16,289 a month ($195,568 a year) while assuming the duties as Interim TID GM.
Hashimoto will serve as TID’s General Manager while the Board completes a national search for a permanent replacement for General Manager Larry Weis, whose last day will be August 31st.
It was announced on July 13, 2010 that Larry Weis accepted a job as Austin Energy’s GM in Texas after leading TID for the last 10 years. Weis was making $277,188 a year plus benefits as the TID GM and will be making $285,000 a year at Austin Energy.
The Board announced plans to hire a firm to conduct a nationwide search for a new general manager, which could take between six and eleven months. The Board President, Rob Santos appointed both Directors Charles Fernandes and Ron Macedo to participate on a GM Recruitment Committee which consists of TID’s General Counsel and its Director of Human Resources.
“We as a Board, have a great deal of confidence in Hashimoto and his ability to manage the operations of the District and keep it heading in the right direction,” Santos said. “However, we are committed to finding the best candidate to lead TID as its permanent General Manager and will make sure the search for that person is conducted expeditiously.”
