National Fire Prevention Week is from October 3rd through the 9th and the Turlock City Fire Department will kick it off with the annual Fire Station 1 Open House event on Sunday, October 3, 2010.
People from the community will get the opportunity to learn about fire extinguisher use, car seat safety, fire prevention and other safety tips.
While education and the promotion of safety will be focal points of the event, people from past year’s events always have a great time watching and participating in demonstrations and simulations.
Fire Station 1 is also the home of the Fire Department Museum where visitors are able to look at old fire engines, gear, and pictures along with taking a guided tour.
People attending will have many photo opportunities including putting on a firefighter’s gear and getting in a fire truck. Bring your camera!
Hot dogs and drinks will be provided so everyone is welcome to attend this free event from 1pm – 4pm at Turlock Fire Station 1, located at 540 E. Marshall.
