A man who was apparently thinking of jumping off the Freeway 99 overpass on Linwood Avenue in Turlock halted freeway traffic on Tuesday at about 3:20pm as the California Highway Patrol rerouted drivers off the freeway at Golden State Boulevard and West Main exits.
The subject, a 29 year old male, had climbed the fence and was threatening to jump onto the freeway below.
Turlock Police officers talked to the subject for approximately 45 minutes, convincing him to come away from the edge. The subject was eventually taken for evaluation. There were no injuries.
Traffic flow was restored to normal by around 4:45pm.
