Taste of Turlock 2011 will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2011 and will have a cultural theme again this year, while also looking to become Turlock’s very own Heritage Festival.
With the attendance increasing from 600 to approximately 4,000 in 2010, it was proven that Turlockers want a free community event where family and friends can meet for food and fun.
For 2011, Taste of Turlock will incorporate feedback from last year’s event that included suggestions of "filling in" the event so it’s not so spread out, more vendors selling food (many did not plan on selling but just giving away last year), and adding more entertainment/representation from each culture.
There will be a lot to experience and savor during this walking tour of the downtown. People will get to enjoy cultural music & dance performances, children’s activities, art, exhibits, and the best food, appetizers, and wine & beverages from their favorite Turlock restaurants. The Saturday, May 7th event will be a perfect pre-Mother’s Day event.
A list of Sponsors, Vendors, and Participants will continually be updated on www.tasteofturlock.com and www.facebook.com/tasteofturlock. Scheduled entertainment and activities will also be updated as they are confirmed.
Cultural groups interested thus far have been identified as American, Assyrian, Hispanic, Scandinavian, Portuguese, Indian, Italian, Historic Turlock, Agriculture, and Counter Culture (aka the college/modern block). The event will also include some Swiss, Irish, and Greek participation.
If anyone or any cultural groups would like to participate, please contact Taste of Turlock Chair DJ Fransen at dj@turlockcitynews.com or 209-678-7759.
This event will be FREE and open to the public while tickets for food & drink tasting wrist bands will be pre-sold beginning in April and sold at the event.
Tickets for the food & drink tasting of about 30 restaurants & food vendors SOLD OUT last year! Get your tickets early this year!
