Many people have seen the old Shell gas station, located at Minnesota Avenue and Geer Road, get demolished recently and are wondering what is being built in its place. A new Burger King restaurant is opening up next to the 7-Eleven convenient store.
7-Eleven owner Jay Jensen said, “Glad to see it. Just doesn’t look good having a fence around and nothing happening for… I don’t know how long now.”
Miller Pacific Inc., the construction company working on the new Burger King building, has an expected completion time of 8-10 more weeks. The property has already been under construction for about 4 weeks, including the demolition of the old Shell gas station building.
Jensen believes cleaning the corner lot up is a positive thing and will ultimately bring more traffic to his store.
On the other side of the 7-Eleven store, McDonald’s just recently began the demolition of their old building located at Tuolumne Road and Geer Road.

There are signs on the construction fence surrounding the property that say “A fresh new look is coming.” The Modesto Bee reported that the owner of the McDonald’s, Mike Jevert, has a re-opening date of July 4th planned for a new, updated McDonald’s building.
