Robin Boyd, 39 of Turlock, is still missing after the California Highway Patrol (CHP) found her car crashed in a canal near Delhi on Thursday. The Merced County Sheriff’s Department is looking into this missing person’s case but as of Sunday evening, Deputy Tom Mackenzie reported that there were no updates on the case.
Deputy Tom Mackenzie said that the CHP responded to the canal between 5:00pm and 5:30pm for a report of a car in a canal near Highway 99 and Bradbury Road.
The sheriff’s dive team found a 2004 Volvo submerged with the windows down and that the vehicle was empty.
Deputies checked the car’s registration and learned it belonged to Boyd.
Deputies went to Robin Boyd’s home and spoke to her husband, Steve Boyd. Deputies found out that she’d been in a minor traffic collision in Turlock earlier Thursday. Her two children were with her when the traffic collision took place. Her children walked home while Boyd drove away from the scene. Deputy MacKenzie reported that Robin Boyd’s husband said that the kids told him that their mom had been drinking.
The Merced County Sheriff’s Department and CHP walked the canal banks, flew a helicopter over the canal banks, and issued a missing person’s case on Robin Boyd.
Deputies have continued to search for Robin Boyd but have yet to find her.
Law enforcement officials are asking anyone with knowledge of Boyd’s whereabouts to call (209) 385-7472.
