A celebration to recognize the 100th year anniversary of the Stanislaus County Fair will be held at the Modesto 10th Street Farmers Market on Thursday, June 16 from 4:00pm – 8:00pm.
Carol Bogdanich of SunBlest Valley Farmers Markets has teamed up with Adrenna Alkhas, Marketing and Communications Director of Stanislaus County Fair, to plan this celebration.
The two have worked on the event for months, but Bogdanich said that it has been worth the effort.
“I felt this was a unique milestone and something the public could share and celebrate,” said Bogdanich.
Previously called the Turlock Melon Carnival, Stanislaus County Fair has been an exciting annual event for families since 1911.
The Fair traditionally includes livestock, carnival rides, entertainment, rodeos, and motorsports.
The birthday bash on Thursday is an open invitation to celebrate these past 100 years, and to prepare for the much anticipated Fair that runs July 15-24.
The Fair team will be at the Market with historic Fair memorabilia from the previous century.
The event will include an opportunity to meet the actors from the movie, George Biddle CPA, Accountant of the Open Highway, made here in Stanislaus County.
The movie is scheduled to be shown at Brenden Theatre and in Las Vegas when completed. Live music will be performed by local talent Rachel Renae.
A camera crew will be interviewing the first twenty-five interested people about their personal experiences and memories from the Fair, which will be shared on various local news websites.
The celebration will be running simultaneously with the Modesto Downtown Art Walk.
As always, the Farmers Market will include fresh produce, baked goods, kettlecorn, etc.
A limited amount of discounted Stanislaus County Fair tickets will be available as well. For more information on the Stanislaus County Fair, visit: www.stancofair.com.
The 10th Street Farmers Market is adjacent to Gallo Center for the Arts, between ‘H’ & ‘I’ Streets, in Modesto.
