Hundreds of local hopefuls lined up outside of Pet Extreme Thursday night for a chance to be cast in two music videos for the tween girl pop group The PreZcotts.
An open casting call was scheduled at the Pet Extreme Conference Room to begin at 6pm. By 6:00, a line already had formed around the entire Pet Extreme building.
Hundreds of boys and girls from Turlock and surrounding towns anxiously waited in line.
Devin Doss, a 12 year old from Hughson, was excited for an opportunity to be cast in the videos.
“It’s my dream to be an actor, so this is a big opportunity for me,” Doss said.
While in line, casting director and stylist for the project Whitney Oliver held a preliminary casting with each of the hopefuls.
Oliver held a brief Q&A and got an idea of each person’s ‘look.’
Upon passing the preliminary casting, the lucky boys and girls continued to the conference room to be put on camera.
While on camera, a headshot and profile shots were taken. The boys and girls were asked basic information as well as something interesting about them.
The PreZcotts are signed with Turlock based production company Protégé Music, owned by Matt Swanson.
Along with local company Protégé, the Turlock Film Commission has jumped on board with the music videos.
“Turlock Film Commission officially got its foot off the ground this week with this project,” said Turlock Film Commission director Michael Everett.
Everett said that his goal for the commission is to build up a film industry in Turlock, and this is surely a great start for them.
LA based producer of the music video, Rich Correll, will be in Turlock on Saturday to make the final selections for who will be cast in the PreZcott’s music videos.
“We start shooting on the 30th (of July) through the 3rd (of August),” said The PreZcotts’ manager Frank Munoz.
The five day shooting will be done at different spots around Turlock.
