Fall is quickly approaching, and beginning this Saturday, R.A.M. (Ron A. Macedo) Farms will be hosting Turlock’s first ever 15 acre corn maze, a hay maze, and pumpkin patch to kick off the season.
“We are really excited about the opening of the corn maze,” exclaimed Karen Macedo, who is married to Ron Macedo.
“The corn maze has been a family project; Ron planted the corn, daughter Sarah designed the Ghost Maze, my sons Michael & Matthew (and friends) helped with the GPS, and cut the maze out.”
The pumpkin patch and corn maze will be open to the public beginning October 1 through October 31 and will be located at 716 N. DaubenbergerRoad in Turlock.
Macedo said that the corn maze will provide two options for guests. For those who want to fully experience the corn maze and challenge themselves, they can take the traditional path inside the corn maze.
The second option is for a more relaxed approach to experiencing the maze, called Ghost Alley. The Alley is a path set-up around the perimeter of the maze.
“Ghost Alley is an option for people that don’t want the challenge of inside maze,” said Macedo. “It also provides a safe and easier way for younger or older guests to still take part of the maze.”
The patch will be hosting Freaky Flashlight Nights every Friday and Saturday throughout the month. During Freaky Flashlight Nights, the maze will be open after hours.
Guests will find checkpoints throughout the maze and be given maps to guide themselves. This event requires a flashlight and close-toed shoes are recommended.
This activity is aimed for children over 6 years of age, and children 6 to 12 years must be accompanied by an adult.
The one bale high hay maze is an activity for younger guests to enjoy, aimed for preschoolers and children who do not wish to participate in the corn maze.
The pumpkin patch will include over 30 varieties of pumpkins, heirlooms, and gourds, ranging from 1/3 pounds to 120 pounds. All produce sold at the patch comes directly from RAM Farms that have been raised at their own sites.
Other attractions at the pumpkin patch will include a Scary Shed, sandbox, and pumpkin bowling. These attractions, along with the hay maze, are free to guests with the purchase of a pumpkin.
“I hope it will be a fun activity for young people in Turlock,” said Macedo.
