The Division 1 Turlock Irrigation District (TID) Board of Directors seat is up for election on November 8, 2011. Michael Frantz and Christopher Barth are candidates and have provided answers to a questionnaire sent out by TurlockCityNews.com.

TID Board of Directors Incumbent Rob Santos was not challenged for his Division 4 seat and will therefore not appear on the November 8, 2011, ballot.

TID Board Incumbent Michael Frantz (Farmer/Businessman), of Hickman, will face challenger Christopher Barth (Businessman/Farmer), of Turlock, for the Division 1 Director seat. Division 1 is made up of the northeast area of the TID District, including most of Turlock east of Geer Road and north of East Avenue.

Frantz was appointed to the TID Board of Directors on November 17, 2009, after TID Director Phillip Short passed away on September 25, 2009. When Frantz was chosen for appointment in 2009, eleven people vied for the TID Director position.

Those elected to the TID Board of Directors currently receive $1,000 per month salary and are eligible to receive the same health benefits as full time employees for the duration of their elected term.

As one of TurlockCityNews.com’s top priorities, to improve communication here in Turlock, we really appreciate the extra effort by the candidates to fill out these extensive questionnaires.

In appreciation of the candidates’ effort to communicate, TurlockCityNews.com will be putting stipulations on the commenting system we currently have in place. All comments left on the individual profiles will be directed to this main page. We encourage constructive comments because we will be using discretion on approval based on if we feel the comments serve a purpose to inform, support, or promote Turlock (more TurlockCityNews.com priorities). Concerns, questions, debatable points, alternative views… Put them down. Comments attacking the candidates personally will not be approved, so make the comments legitimate. As always feel free to leave comments of support. Signing your name is optional but encouraged.

Please read and take into consideration the information when you go to vote for the District 1 TID Director on Tuesday, November 8, 2011.
