Turlock City Council 2012 Candidate Steven NascimentoSteven Nascimento has jump started the race for the 2012 Turlock City Council election by announcing that he will be a candidate running for one of the Council seats currently held by Councilwomen Amy Bublak and Mary Jackson.

The seats held by Bublak and Jackson will be up for election and on the November 6, 2012, ballot.

Thus far, nobody has officially announced a 2012 Council candidacy except for Nascimento.

Nascimento works as the District Director for U.S. Representative Dennis Cardoza (D) and serves as an appointed Turlock Parks, Recreation and Community Commissioner. Nascimento graduated CSU Stanislaus with his bachelor degree in political science and previously worked as a City of Modesto planner.

The Council campaign for Nascimento kicked off with an announcement on November 10th and then a fundraiser with family and close friends a couple days later.

Steven Nascimento now has a website and facebook page with a lot of information on himself and his Council candidacy.

Nascimento announced his candidacy on facebook by stating:

“As a candidate for City Council, I seek to inspire responsive and effective local government through greater civic engagement and competent leadership.

The residents of Turlock expect and deserve a community that is safe, vibrant, and well managed. In these difficult economic times, the City must invest its resources strategically to ensure that Turlock remains a competitive place to do business, without forsaking the quality of life for its residents. Ultimately, citizens and businesses alike want to be proud of the community to which they belong.

As your Councilman, I will leverage my policy experience, solid values, and common sense to collaborate with the citizens and local businesses to move Turlock forward.

I am proud to be lifelong resident of Turlock, and look forward to the opportunity to give back to the community that has given me so much. My wife Alexis and I thank you in advance for your generous support, encouragement and prayers!”

Nascimento’s website focuses on three core issues: maintaining quality of life, sustainable growth, and civic engagement.

As a lifelong resident of Turlock, Nascimento states that he is committed to bringing new energy and a fresh perspective to improving the Turlock community.

Nascimento seeks to inspire responsive and effective local government through greater civic participation and competent leadership.
