The 46th Annual Turlock Swap Meet is set to take place at the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds this weekend, January 28/29, 2012. Over 30,000 people come from all over the nation for the Turlock Swap Meet that is always held on the last full weekend in January at the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds.
The Turlock Convention and Visitors Bureau reported in the January 2012 Business News magazine that last year they had people calling or stopping by the Chamber from Germany and Saudi Arabia.
The Modesto Area A’s, a chapter of the Model A Ford Club of America, has sponsored the event since 1965. The event first started in the McHenry Shopping Center in Modesto and outgrew the space after the first year. The Turlock Swap Meet title was given when the event moved to the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds in 1966.
Vendor spaces always sell out and will be reserved for next year at this year’s swap meet. Over 1,000 vendors and hundreds of vehicles will be setup throughout the fairgrounds.
Cars for sale spaces are available on a first come, first served basis. Beginning Friday, the day before the Turlock Swap Meet, cars will be staged starting at around 9am. Visit the Turlock Swap Meet website for more information.
