“The secret of it all, is to write in the gush, the throb, the flood, of the moment…By writing at the instant the very heartbeat of life is caught.” – Walt Whitman
This quote by Walt Whitman, a great American poet, has always been true to my heart, and can also be applied to the process of reporting the news. By writing down the events that are happening in our community, as they are happening, we can catch the very heartbeat of the life we have here in Turlock.
Writing has always been a passion of mine, and so it is a great privilege and wonderful opportunity for me to be writing for TurlockCityNews.com!
I have lived in Turlock since birth, and was raised in a family that has always exhibited immense care and concern for our community. I first recognized my passion for journalism in high school, while I was attending Turlock Christian. After enjoying a few years writing for the school paper and spending a year as Editor-In-Chief, I had my mind set on pursuing journalism as a career. After graduating in 2008, I started attending California State University Stanislaus, where I am still attending. Since attending university, however, I have discovered a different passion in City Planning and Urban Development. I am currently pursuing my B.A. degree in Political Science, and will continue on to graduate school in order to pursue Public Administration.
It is very exciting to be combining two of my passions, local community issues and journalism, to be able to report for the community members of Turlock.
