You may have noticed workers in bright vests standing at the railroad crossings throughout Turlock and wondered what is going on, besides some traffic delays. Union Pacific Railroad is replacing thousands of railroad ties and installing rock ballast to help provide a more stable road bed.
Railroad workers said that they started in Modesto and would continue through Turlock. The project through Turlock is expected to be completed around Tuesday or Wednesday.
If your trips include crossing the railroad tracks, plan a little extra time for your travels.
