At approximately 11:30am this morning, Turlock Police Department Officers responded to the area of Nikki Ann Way and N. Tully Road, after receiving a call from a citizen about a suspicious group of subjects possibly casing the area.
TPD Officers responded to the location and made contact with the responsible subjects. One of the subjects was armed with a loaded handgun. The subject presented the handgun at the Officer and the Officer fired his handgun in response to the threat. The suspect was struck.
Officers summoned medical attention and the injured suspect was taken to the nearest hospital. Despite efforts to revive the suspect, he was pronounced dead by the attending physician.
The suspect’s loaded handgun was recovered at the scene.
Police have not released the identity or any other information about the suspect who was shot to death.
TPD Officers were not injured during the shooting.
No information on the officer responsible for shooting and killing the suspect has been released by police as well.
Turlock Police Chief Rob Jackson would like to let members of the community know, this is an isolated incident and there is no active threat to public safety.
