Basketball Hall of Famer Meadowlark Lemon and his Harlem All Stars were supposed to be participating in a Charity Celebrity Basketball Game at Pitman High School today until an announcement of the game being postponed on Thursday.
The charity game was to include staff members of the City of Turlock, as well as members of City Council, and Pitman Pride Faculty versus Meadowlark Lemon’s Harlem All Stars.
Portions of the benefits were to go toward the City of Turlock Police Activities League and the Pitman Booster Club. Lemon also stated at the last Turlock City Council meeting that if enough tickets were sold to event, there would hopefully also be money to hand out a scholarship to high school students for college.
Tickets were priced from $15 in advance to $50 for a VIP Meet & Greet with front two-row seats.
“Due to slow ticket sales and conflicting community events, the event has been postponed to October,” stated Dan Madden, from the City of Turlock. “This decision was made by Meadowlark Lemon and his team.”
Meadowlark lemon was here for the last 7 days and the ticket sales were very slow. Lemon thought it best to postpone the event until October, tentatively second week.
Those persons that purchased tickets through the City of Turlock Recreation can obtain a refund at Recreation. Proof of identity will be needed for refund.
The event in Patterson has also been postponed.
