It’s that time of year again! The much-anticipated return of The Turlock Certified Farmer’s Market will return for the 2012 Season this Friday, May 4th at the corner of Main and Broadway.
This Friday will commence the third season of the Turlock Farmer’s Market, which has expanded from a handful of dedicated farmers and local venders to now offering more than 35 stalls at the height of the season.
The first Farmer’s Market of the season will include performers from the CSUS production of Shakespeare’s Comedy of Errors who will be on hand to entertain and delight Market-goers with impromptu performances.
And before the season even started, the Turlock Certified Farmer’s Market welcomed a new Market Manager, Lauren Camarata. Camarata plans on continuing the success of the Turlock Farmer’s Market.
Drawing mainly on the success of 2011, many local businesses and farmers are now seeing the value of doing business downtown every Friday and are signing on to bring their unique goods and services to Market in steady numbers.
The atmosphere of the Farmer’s Market encourages a community relationship between vendors and customers, who both appreciate the one-on-one interaction they receive by getting to know each other. Many customers return to the Farmer’s Market every week, not only for the great food and various treasures, but also to enjoy the wonderful sense of community it creates.
Another benefit the Farmer’s Market provides for the community is a boosted local economy. During difficult times for local businesses and local farmers, the Farmer’s Market provides steady weekly customers.
The 2012 Season is also expanding its Night Market line-up to four evenings and will be bringing many new performers and entertainers on board to attract Market-goes. Many favorite attractions will be back as well, including the Petting Zoo, the Folklorico dance group and Totally Frank.
Many non-profits are also recognizing the value of participating at the Turlock Farmer’s Market, such as the Friends of the Turlock Library, and are busy preparing activities for children and families to enjoy while shopping and dining.
Local farmers remain the heart of the Market season and this year will offer the best of the best. Favorites returning are Cipponeri Farms, Bava Farms, J&J Ramos and J. Marchini, along with Grandpa Wright’s Almonds, Golden Comb (Honey), Pageo Lavender and Athena’s Olive Oil.
The 2012 Season for the Turlock Certified Farmer’s Market will run from Friday, May 4th to Friday, October 26th. Every Friday from 8am – 1pm, the Turlock Farmer’s Market will be held on Broadway Avenue at the corner of W. Main Street.
