Vermont Avenue Homicide Suspect Sought, Victim’s Identity Released by Turlock Police

Homicide Suspect Sought by Turlock Police, Gabriel Miranda.On May 2nd, Turlock Police Department dispatch received a call of shots fired with a person down on the 100 block of Vermont Avenue at approximately 10:45pm.

Initial reports from the Turlock Police Department stated that officers and medical responders arrived and found a white male adult in his mid-twenties in one of the residences shot. The shooting appeared to have originated from the street in front of the residence and the victim was deceased when emergency personnel arrived. There were other occupants in the residence at the time of the incident, but no one else was injured.

Due to the nature of the incident and for their safety the names of the other occupants inside the house, at the time of the homicide, will not be released.

Turlock Police are now reporting the identity of the victim in the homicide that occurred May 2, 2012, as Simon White, 24 of Turlock.

White is believed to have been the victim of a drive-by shooting in the 100 block of Vermont Ave. Although the motive is still under investigation, witnesses identified the shooter to be 23 year-old Gabriel Miranda.

The firearm used in the homicide has not been recovered. Miranda is considered to be armed and dangerous.

Turlock Police Department is asking the community to use caution if they encounter Miranda. If any member of the community has knowledge of Miranda’s whereabouts, please call the police immediately as he is currently wanted for homicide.

The Turlock Police Department is an active participant in the Crime Stoppers Program. Callers can leave an anonymous tip by calling Crime Stoppers at (209) 521-4636 and may be eligible for a cash reward.
