For those Turlock residents whose Saturday is expected to be all work and no play, the Turlock Transfer Station at 1100 S. Walnut Ave. will be open from 8am until 1pm for the annual Take Pride in Turlock free dumping day.
For the past 12 years, the city has held an annual Take Pride in Turlock Day to allow for residents to dispose of solid waste for free. The program has reduced illegal dumping and Turlock Scavenger recycles as much of the material as possible to divert the waste from the landfill.
With just a current City of Turlock Utility Bill and a picture ID with a Turlock address, any Turlock household can drop off a free load of trash.
With just an April 2012 City of Turlock Utility Bill and a picture ID with a Turlock address, any Turlock household can drop off a free load of trash. The only stipulations are that no vehicle loads larger than a pick-up truck will be accepted, there may be no more than nine passenger tires per load, no sealed gas cylinders (propane, oxygen, etc.), and no treated wood.
The Stanislaus County Department of Environmental Resources will also be accepting household hazardous waste such as paint, varnish, oil, or pesticides from 9am until 1pm at their 901 S. Walnut Ave. site.
Turlock Recycling, located at 1020 S. Walnut Rd., will also be open from 8am – 1pm for beverage container recycling reimbursement.
