In honor of Memorial Day this coming Monday, May 28th, people are invited to attend the Turlock Memorial Day Service located at Turlock Memorial Park, starting at 10am. Turlock Memorial Park is located at 425 N. Soderquist Road in Turlock.
The Turlock Memorial Day Service has been a tradition at Turlock Memorial Park since 1963. Both Mayor John Lazar and Congressman Jeff Denham will be present at the service.
Memorial Day originated after the Civil War in order to show honor and remembrance of those who lost their lives in battle. Since then, however, the holiday has extended to remember and honor all Americans who have died in all wars throughout United States history.
The Veteran of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the American Legion Rex Ish Post 88 will lead the Turlock Memorial Day Service on Monday.
