Contracted tree crew members prune trees in Turlock's Denair Park as a precautionary measure after a tree fell on pedestrians. A falling tree impacted two pedestrians on June 20th while visiting Denair Park in Turlock. One individual was transported for medical attention, while the other impacted individual left the scene before emergency crews arrived.

Police and EMS were dispatched to the intersection of Lyons and Oak upon receiving the call regarding the tree falling upon a bystander. Although the individual was reported as having minor injuries, the individual was still transported to a nearby hospital out of precaution, according to Turlock Police.

Allison Van Guilder, Recreation and Public Facilities Division Manager, stated that the 60 foot tree was a Hackberry tree estimated to be approximately 50 years old with a 30 foot canopy. Upon evaluation of the tree after the incident, the tree showed no outward signs of stress or disease.

As a precaution, however, to prevent future incidents, the City of Turlock has had a crew out to the park to evaluate the other nearby trees as to remove any identifiable hazards this week.
