The Stanislaus County Fair, in partnership with Dr. Dave Dubyak of Turlock, will be holding their 10th Annual Apple Pie Contest and has recently opened registration for entries. Registration for the event will be open until July 12th, with no registration fee.
Although there is a $100 first place prize, and a $50 second place prize, the main focus of the contest is to collect as many apple pies as possible to donate to the United Samaritans Foundation’s Daily Bread Program. Each contestant is asked to enter two pies, as all pies will be donated to the homeless community.
The contest is open to all bakers, community members and service clubs who wish to bake pies to help the local community.
“The bottom line is that people are trying to help,” stated Dr. Dave Dubyak. “It’s not so much about winning, but rather to bake pies to help the community.”
The contest will be held on the opening night of the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds on July 13th. This year’s guest panel of judges will be comprised of the Mayors of the communities of Stanislaus County.
