For the past few years, the Board of Directors at Emanuel Medical Center has examined the long-term sustainability of health care within the community. One of the many options under review is the possibility of sponsorship change from the Covenant Church to another organization.
“During this review, the Board’s greatest concerns are the long-term sustainability of hospital services in Turlock,” stated Communication and Marketing Coordinator Lindsey Lundquist. “And maintaining the core of who we are as an organization.”
While there have been rumors of a definite change of ownership of Emanuel Medical Center, a change of ownership is only one of the possible outcomes of the Board’s exploration process.
“There are many possible outcomes, including enhancing existing partnerships, such as the one we have with Stanford Medicine at Emanuel Cancer Center,” stated Lundquist. The final outcome could also result in no change at all.
“To guide us in this process, the Board has engaged the expertise of strategic management consultants and they have been working diligently together,” explained Lundquist. “It has not been a hasty process and all possible scenarios are being explored.”
Upon the completion of the exploration, the Board will make a recommendation to ensure the long-term sustainability of hospital services in Turlock.
The Board of Directors has currently not made any decisions regarding a change in ownership of the hospital, and the exploration process will continue for many months to come, and perhaps even longer.
