California Highway Patrol received a call of “be on the look-out” from Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department of an SUV that had been involved in possible drive by shooting near the Sante Fe Avenue and N. Berkeley area of Denair.
According to CHP Sergeant Antonio Dominguez, a CHP unit responded down Keyes Road and located a vehicle matching the description heading westbound. The officer turned around after spotting the suspected vehicle, the vehicle sped up, and a pursuit began.
During the pursuit, a shotgun was thrown out the window near the Keyes and Highway 99 area.
The CHP unit then tried to initiate an enforcement stop, and at that time the vehicle took off and a pursuit ensued on southbound on Highway 99 which continued into Turlock.
The pursuit that began in the Denair area at around 8:30pm ended behind the Turlock Wal-Mart area of Shetland Way and Countryside Drive, on Cali Lin Ct, at around 9:30pm.
There were four male suspects in the SUV being chased. Once stopped, one of the suspects fled on foot, while three were detained at the scene. As a search of the neighborhood began, the fourth suspect jumped out of hiding from a residential backyard and tried to run toward Wal-Mart where a Turlock Police Office captured him.
After more searching, several bags of marijuana were discovered.
No injuries throughout shooting, pursuit, and search occurred.
Dominguez said that Stanislaus Sheriff’s Deputies recovered the weapon thrown out of the SUV and that the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department was continuing their investigation as of 9:45pm. The captured suspects’ identities were not officially released as booking had yet not occurred.
