On Wednesday, at approximately 6pm, a 911 call to county fire was made to report a burning residential structure located at 614 Eighth Street. The structure was abandoned and boarded up. Crews were able to contain the fire to the main building and a small garage to the rear of the structure. The neighboring houses on either side were both protected and saved.

County units were initially dispatched to the 800 Eighth Street location, but the fire ended up being on block to the north, within the City Limits. Turlock Fire Department worked in concert with multiple county agencies to bring the fire under control. Assisting agencies included Turlock Fire Department, TRFD, Keyes Fire Department, Denair Fire Department, Mountain View Fire Department, AMR, Turlock Police Department, PG&E, and Turlock Irrigation District.

The fire is reported as being suspicious and is currently under investigation. The point of origin appears to be at the rear portion of the structure. The house is a total loss and the small adjacent detached garage suffered major damage. Nine agencies responded, with a total of approximately 24 personnel. The dollar loss estimate is at $100,000.

As the home was an abandoned, a vacant home possibly occupied by transients intermittently, there were no victims involved or injured in the fire.
