Martin Sheen and Emilio Estevez aren’t commonly seen around this area but on Wednesday the two movie stars got lost in Turlock on their way to Duarte Nursery, located in Hughson.
Sara Eidman, Marketing Director at Duarte Nursery, posted a picture on facebook of owner Jim Duarte with Martin Sheen and Emilio Estevez on each side of him with a caption “Look who got lost in Turlock today looking for Duarte Nursery!” Martin Sheen had a pair of glasses and a map in one hand as they were trying to find their way.
“We had a feeling that Emilio Estevez was really him on the phone,” stated Eidman. “We had no idea that his dad, Martin Sheen, would have come to pick up the vines with him too!”
It was owner Jim Duarte’s birthday, so it was a running joke in the office that they came to surprise Jim on his birthday but it was only a coincidence.
“Emilio Estevez has a winery/vineyard in Malibu and ordered some vines from us and came up to pick them up,” said Eidman.
According to Eidman, they were talking about how Emilio’s grandfather was from Spain and how he used to have a vineyard, so he has one now in Malibu, Casa Dumetz. They also mentioned how they got lost in Turlock, where Eidman lives, for a while.
“They were super nice and friendly, both of them seemed very down to earth. It was a nice visit and we hope they are return customers,” exclaimed Eidman.
Estevez and his dad picked up over 100 Pinot Noir grapevines from Duarte Nursery.
How did Estevez come to find the Central Valley Nursery from Southern California?
“We are a commercial nursery, the largest in the US,” stated Eidman. “I am assuming they did their homework for who could provide the best grapevines in the industry, and that is why Emilio chose us as his nursery.”
